With the increasing life demands (particularly from women), maintaining a healthy lifestyle that incorporates exercise is becoming more difficult. However, there are also many new and exciting ways to overcome these barriers… GROUP TRAINING!
There are several different ways in which we can access group training, so the traditional class set up is not the only option.
What is it?
You may have heard of the other popular option of Personal Training. Group training is an
offshoot of this which holds the benefit of getting the direct coaching and encouragement
from a qualified Fitness Professional, within a fun group environment. That’s right, you don’t
have to go through it alone.
Group training is described by the ACSM as any workout with
more than 5 participants. These can be your friends, family, colleagues or even total
strangers.
Here are 5 Fab benefits of Group training:
1. Motivation. Put simply, it keeps you accountable and consistent. Exercising
with a smaller group of people (on average five to 10) can be a massive
encouragement for people who sometimes have trouble motivating
themselves to turn up.
2. Variety of exercises. Being introduced to different types of exercises keeps
the workouts interesting and reduces the risk of boredom. Been curious about
trying something new? Your trainer can show you how to use that kettlebell or
resistance band properly and effectively.
3. Much cheaper than Personal Training. The cost per hour is significantly lower
than hiring a 1-1 session. The more of you there are, the cheaper it gets.
4. More personalized time with your trainer. This is where group training differs
from a studio class. The trainer will still guide and direct your technique and
adjust the plan to meet your needs. In fact, you will be able to still have that
much-needed quality time to work on your own goals.
5. Setting and reaching goals. This is the best part! You won't be wasting your
time or money. You'll be given a plan to follow and a heck of a lot of support to
do it in a specific time frame.
When : Anytime anyplace.
Where: Before you ask, no you don’t need to join a gym. There are several different ways in
which you can access small group training, so the traditional class set-up is not the only
option. Group Training can be done almost anywhere:Online, in the comfort of your home,
garden, local events, a local park or community hall.
